Elephant Beetle 11x14 (SB-11)

Mexico to Costa Rica, 11" x 14"

The Elephant Beetle or Megasoma elephas differs from most other Rhino beetles chiefly because of its tremendous bulk and velvety texture. The typically black exoskeleton is covered with densely packed fine pile that gives it a caramel color.

It is a relatively docile, nocturnal creature that feeds on overripe fruit and tree sap as an adult while the immense grubs feed on and pupate within rotting logs.
