Papilio krishna is one of the most prized of all swallowtail butterflies. Adorned with more of the brilliant colors and iconic patterns that make gloss swallowtails (also known as peacock swallowtails) so highly sought after, it is an especially cherished species because of its large size and inaccessible range (India and Myanmar).
Because of the political instability in Myanmar and the remote Indian Himalaya elevations where it flies at up to 9000 feet, it is rare in collections.
