As their name suggests, clearwings are almost entirely transparent except for the brown veining and flush of color on the hindwings. As their shadow is actually visible through the wings, it is difficult for the camera to determine what to focus on. Consequently the colors here look a bit more opaque than they really are.

Though this piece has an oriental feel, this species actually inhabits the jungles of the Amazon.
