SUNSET MOTH DUO
(SGL-12)

Madagascar

11x14 inches

The Sunset Moth is a common day-flying moth in its native Madagascar. It flies all year but can be found in enormous numbers from May to July when gigantic waves of sunset moths have been said to be the most beautiful display in the animal kingdom.

In the Victorian era, the wings of this species were used in jewelry making. As the caterpillar's foodplant is poisonous, it is thought to be distasteful to predators, perhaps accounting for its large numbers.
