CHALCASOMA ATLAS (SB-4)

Malaysia

11x14 inches

The Atlas Rhino is not nearly as ferocious as it appears. Kept as a pet in parts of Southeast Asia, it feeds on over-ripe fruits and tree sap. It also thrives in the wild in Indo-Malaysia.

The lustrous, glossy exoskeleton of this beetle is especially strong to protect it both from monkeys and birds as well as conspecific males who constantly battle over females.

Exceptionally sized specimens averaging about 4¼" long including frontal horns.
