GHOST MOTH (SL-21)

Latin America

16x20 inches

The common names of Thysania agrippina (ghost moth, white witch, great owlet moth, and birdwing moth, among others) belie its fame as the insect with the largest wingspan of all.

Although the Atlas silk moth (Attacus atlas) of Asia has a larger overall wing surface area, no moth or butterfly exceeds the wingspan of more than 30 cm (nearly 12 inches) attributed to T. agrippina.
